chicago illinois

This chapter focusses on the western streets and avenues in the Loop, Chicago's downtown. You can view photos of, roughly, the area in between State Avenue and South Wacker Drive. It's an area with lots of highrise buildings, some older and some newer. As in the eastern part the loop-train, the subway that rolls on the second level through streets like Lake, is a fascination. Nevertheless here are a few great buildings as well: the J.R. Thompson Center (formerly known as the State of Illinois Center), the Sears Tower and the Rookery. To mention a few. Photos of the eastern downtown streets are to be found in the Loop-East chapter, photos on the northern parts of Wacker Drive are in the chapter on the Chicago River.
