Taman Negara is the wild green heart of the Malaysia peninsula. While the rest of the peninsula has seen the jungle dissappear for coconut palms and cities, this is what has left from the ancient times. Taman Negara is the largest National Park on the peninsula, its name meaning National Park.

The south end of the park is the place to enter. Here is the little village of Kuala Tahan, and crossing the Tembeling River brings you into the wild. It's not the mammals that are the focus here, although Gua Telinga, the Ear cave has many bats to see. It's the lush vegetation, the humidity, the rivers and the nomad tribe of the Orang Asli that make Taman Negara a place to keep close to your heart. And apart from that, Taman Negara is the oldest jungle in the world.
