Sun City is a city for active senior citizens. It is age restricted. In all households should at least one person with an age over 55 live.
In 1960, together with the smaller sized neigbour Youngtown, it was the first of the so-called planned senior communities.
Many many people in Sun City volunteer in as many jons you can think of. Over ten percent of the people volunteer in the hospital,
others in the recreation centers, in the sheriff posse, in the pride -street clean- organisation etc.
When developed in the early 1960s it was a town in the middle of the Sonora desert, now it is part of the fast growing metroplitan urban landscape of Phoenix.
I made many photos in Sun City and the neighbouring cities that attract senior citizens in a same way: Sun City West, Sun City Grand and Youngtown.
