The Moroccan Sahara is a great piece of nature. Starting accross the Atlas Mountains the area gets drier and drier. I visited the are south from Zagora, an oasis along the Draa River, less than 100 km from the Algerian border. South from Zagora is Ouled Driss, a small village on the edge of Erg Lihoudi, a vast dune desert nesteld in between mountain ranges. Ouled Driss, with its clay houses is a sort of modern caravanserai, the starting point of camel-caravan tours towards the dunes.

The dunes of Erg Lihoudi are spectactular, especially in the low sun. You can see some of the duneshapes and sandforms in my Sahara Sands special. Ouled driss and the caravan are in the Caravanserai special. I've put my Zagora photos in two specials, one focssing on Zagora as a town, the other on the Open Air Market.
