shanghai - qingpu

Qingpu is a district in the westside of the enormous Shanghai agglomeration. It's where the built environment mixes with empty meadows and small communities. In this special, however, there are no meadowphotos or other agriculture to be seen. The thing from the Qingpu district that comes closest to a not-city atmosphere is to be seen in my Zhujiajiao special, that is also within the Qingpu boundaries. Here are some photos from the Chamber of Commerce building and a kindergarten at Xia Ju. A few are from further west. Here there are many gated communities, like the Racket Club, with homes for the higher incomes. It's not the first thing you think of when going to China. I like the striking contrasts. Will this be China's near future?
