coney island

This series in my New York Special has photos from the Brooklyn beach at Coney Island. Once in the nineteen fifties an exiting new way of entertainment for city people, now a strange mix of a nice oceanbeach and, certainly off season, sort of run down places. Atmospheric however, it is! Focal points off the Atlantic Boardwalk are Nathan's, famous for its Hot Dogs, the Wonderwheel, the Cyclone Rollercoaster and the Sea Aquarium. To the East the Boardwalk runs into the Russian neighbourhood of Brighton Beach.
