Crete is a quite long island some one hundred kilometers south of the Greek mainland.
I only visited the far western end of the island, so did not get an impression of everything that Crete has to offer.
I liked what I saw in Crete, although it did not catch my heart as other parts of Greece, or other Mediterranean islands did.
Nevertheless, Crete probably has everything you want a holiday island to have.
In this chapter of my Crete series you can see a few images of the most western part, from the great beach at Phalassarna to the magnificent Rodopos peninsula and a few villages off coast.
There in the mountainous areas I found my best of Crete.
