The Etang de Thau is a large basin just off the Mediterrenean. In earlier days it was part of the sea. But times have changed.
The area is a touristic one with a few small villages such as Bouzigues and Balaruc, and some larger towns such as Sète.

The area is also a confusing one, mixing lovely scenes with ugliness.
