welcome

Dresden, the capital of Saxony, arguably is the most pretty city of Germany. Considering almost all of the downtown area was destroyed after WWII, the city is even more impressive. In a sort of delayed restoration Dresden got back the charms of foregone era.

In the downtown area the Zwinger is the focal point on the west side, making a great combination with the Semper Opera House, the Castle and the Hofkirche. The focus on the eastern part of downtown is the Frauenkirche, rebuilt only shortly ago, but one of the icons already.

Apart from the Altstadt I added photos from the shopping area around the Prager Strasse, the UFA Cinema by Coop-Himmelblau and the Transparent Volkswagen Car plant - the Gläserne manufaktur, and some Plattenbau from the far eastern suburb of Grosszschachwitz.
