Bizarre. A metropolitan area left by 1,2 million people. Hard to believe that a city thriving like Detroit in earlier days can look as is does now. Bizarre, but also quite intriguing. It's beautiful to see how people work on creating this new community feeling in many Detroit housing quarters and how the large scale activities were replaced by smaller scaled ones. I guess no one know whether Detroit will shrink even more than the number of 750.000 residents these days. But to me it seems that the dedicated community builders finally will experience larger successes as a result of their approach. Until that day it is quite an experience being in Detroit. You'll understand that the city highlights are not the ones as to be found in other American citie. The Detroit experience is the dedicated approach, the urban spelonking through empty buildings and, still, the music of Motown.
