Barceloneta is Barcelona at the beach. The Barceloneta quarter consists of two different parts, the old town with narrow streets and a dense city atmosphere, and
a newer part adjacent to the 1992 Olympic Village around a new shopping mall and marina. In both parts the beach gets the main focus of the visitors.
An Esplanade along the Mediterranean links the two parts.
